A rumor posted on Games Industry International suggests that Sony may be taking a variety of approaches with the Playstation 4 going with three separate SKUs or Models that will cost as little as $399 and as much as $599.

Coming hot off the heals of Microsoft releasing one SKU at a steep $499 the ball is now in Sonys court. Playstation 3 launched in 2006 at $599 and that price for that time really didn’t help Sony. We will see in just a few minutes the official price released.

UPDATE:

As the Sony conference comes to an end we get the answer we’ve been waiting for – PS4 will launch at $399. Unfortunately you take the good with the bad. With the announcement of this price we still don’t have a launch date. Just a release window of Holiday 2013.
