A new trailer has been released by Rockstar North showcasing swagger and panache we’ve come to expect from the gloriously criminal, culturally in-touch, parent-baiting franchise. And then some.

If the finished game contains the kind of knowing humour and production quality evidenced in this slick cinematic piece, then players are in for a treat. Look out for the sharp dialogue, convincing body language and clever visual jokes all presumably delivered with the game engine. I particularly like the ‘three wise monkeys’ shot at the end.

Enjoy the trailer, but be warned – it’s “colourful” in places. Consider that a parental advisory. Let’s bounce.

GTA V is planned for initial release in Spring 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms, with a PC version to follow.

Broken paramedic and coffee-drinking Englishman whose favourite dumb animal is an oxymoron. After over a decade of humping and dumping the fat and the dead, my lower spine did things normally reserved for Rubik's cubes, bringing my career as a medical clinician to an unexpectedly early end. Fortunately, my real passion is in writing and given that I'm now highly qualified in the art of sitting down, I have the time to pursue it. Having blogged about video games (well, mostly EVE Online) for years, I hope to channel my enjoyment of wordcraft and my hobby of gaming into one handy new career that doesn't involve other people's vomit.
