With the update, the developers hope to enhance players’ immersion in the game by introducing new art styles and improved gameplay mechanics to SMITE‘s Conquest mode.

The new, hand-painted art style will reportedly “bring more richness and clarity into the world.” And as for Season 5’s improved gameplay, SMITE‘s Conquest map has been symmetrically altered so that all players have a more even playing field. Adjustments made to the Jungle map and XP gains reportedly lets players feel a stronger sense of accomplishment as they progress.

Two of the game’s higher-level enemies have also received redesigns. The Fire Giant is now more difficult to defeat and grants more rewards once vanquished. And the Portal Demon has become the Pyromancer, who also grants better rewards once defeated.
